چکیده

The present study was carried out to assess the toxic effect and determine lethal concentration of dried garlic ( Allium sativum ) powder on orange-spotted grouper Epinephelus coioides juveniles. Laboratory static bioassays were conducted 96-h LC 50 different concentrations (0, 30, 60, 90, 120, 150 180 mg L -1 juveniles (mean weight, 35.4±6.18 g mean length, 13.2±0.51 cm). 74.78 with lower upper confidence limits 62.8 89.06 , respectively. All fish exposed 30 exhibited rapid movement, faster opercular activity erratic swimming whereas at higher (90 showed additional behavioral changes such as loss balance, lethargy, gulping for air respiratory distress. Water quality parameters within recommended acceptable limits. This value can be used a baseline reference generate an effective future prophylaxis treatment parasitic, viral bacterial infection in grouper.

Brain Anatomy and Histology of Orange Spotted Grouper (Epinephelus coioides)

This research was carried out to identify the different layers and cells of orange spotted grouper brain for further toxicological experiments and defects brought by xenobiotics during exposure periods. The anatomy and histology of the brain of orange spotted grouper was illustrated and compared to mammals and other fishes. The preserved structures of teleosts brain species were different as com...

Early Osteological Development of Larvae and Juveniles in Red Spotted Grouper, Epinephelus akaara (Pisces: Serranidae)

We observed the osteological development of larval and juvenile red spotted grouper (Epinephelus akaara) in order to generate data for the assessment of skeletal deformities and to inform phylogenetic systematics research. Larvae and juveniles were obtained from a aquafarm in Muan-gun, Jeolla-namdo Province, Korea. The average water temperature at the time of breeding was 23.0°C and average wat...

JNK1 Derived from Orange-Spotted Grouper, Epinephelus coioides, Involving in the Evasion and Infection of Singapore Grouper Iridovirus (SGIV)

c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) regulates cellular responses to various extracellular stimuli, environmental stresses, pathogen infections, and apoptotic agents. Here, a JNK1, Ec-JNK1, was identified from orange-spotted grouper, Epinephelus coioides. Ec-JNK1 has been found involving in the immune response to pathogen challenges in vivo, and the infection of Singapore grouper iridovirus (SGIV) and...

Evaluation of acetylcholinesterase transcript level as a biomarker of methylmercury in orange spotted grouper (Epinephelus coioides) brain

The bioavailability of methylmercury (MeHg) in the brains of  orange spotted groupers, captured from four creeks of Mahshahr embayment was measured.  Then the effects of this pollutant on the regulation of gene expression, acetylcholinesterase transcript levels was chosen in order to monitor the amounts of methylmercury concentrations in the creeks, and the fluctuations of mRNA expressions in t...

Identification and characterization of DSCAM isoforms isolated from orange-spotted grouper Epinephelus coioides.

The Down syndrome cell adhesion molecule (DSCAM), an immunoglobulin (Ig) superfamily member, was first identified from human and subsequently isolated from both vertebrates and invertebrates. Recent studies have shown that the DSCAM molecule serves diverse functions in neurodevelopment, such as axon guidance and neuronal migration. Most studies on DSCAM, however, have focused on mammals and art...
